  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed and peeled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Use butter or cooking spray to lightly grease your 9x5 inch loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in the eggs, one at a time, and mix everything well. Add your mashed bananas and vanilla extract to the butter mix.

  3. In an additional large bowl, mix your flour, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Add the flour mix to the butter mix and thoroughly combine; do not over mix.

Everyone's banana bread recipe is a little different; each includes something special that speaks to their tastes. You can add a variety of ingredients that only serve to better your banana bread:

  • Chocolate chips; when you're mixing your dry ingredients together, stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips as well.
  • Sprinkle in some cinnamon or nutmeg with your dry ingredient mixture.
  • Crushed nuts of your choice; walnuts work very well in a banana bread recipe. You can fold the nuts into the combined dry and wet ingredients.

A significant change to make comes in the form of sour cream. If you're hoping for a hint of tart flavor, you can always add about five or six tablespoons of sour cream in with your eggs.

Looking for something sweeter? We've got you covered there, too. Layer your banana bread with Nutella or a chocolate spread! The recipe is quite simple and you'll be able to bite into a gooey, chocolaty loaf.
